Ingredients

Base Frosting

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups (500g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • ⅛ tsp salt

Strawberry Options (Pick One!)

Fresh/Frozen Strawberries:

  • 4 oz (113g) quartered strawberries
  • 1 Tbsp water (for cooking)

Freeze-Dried Strawberries:

  • 1 cup (16g) freeze-dried strawberries
  • 2-4 Tbsp heavy cream or milk (as needed)

Instructions

Method 1: Using Fresh or Frozen Strawberries

  1. Cook the berries: In a small pan, heat strawberries + water over medium heat. Mash with a fork until thick like tomato paste. Let cool completely.
  2. Make frosting: Beat butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until creamy.
  3. Add remaining sugar slowly, mixing well.
  4. Mix in strawberry paste 1 Tbsp at a time until smooth.
  5. Ready to use! Frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.

Method 2: Using Freeze-Dried Strawberries

  1. Blend berries: Grind freeze-dried strawberries into powder.
  2. Make frosting: Beat butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until creamy.
  3. Add remaining sugar slowly, mixing well.
  4. Stir in strawberry powder until combined.
  5. Thin with cream 1 Tbsp at a time until smooth.
  6. Ready to use! Pipe or spread onto desserts.
