The Deutschlandticket Explained

The Deutschlandticket is a monthly subscription ticket granting unlimited travel on regional public transportation throughout Germany.

Price & Validity

  • Price: Adjusted to €58 per month (effective 2025/2026).
  • Valid On: All local buses, trams, U-Bahn (underground metro), S-Bahn (suburban rail), regional trains (RB, RE, IRE), and select river ferries.
  • NOT Valid On: Long-distance high-speed trains (ICE, IC, EC) or private long-distance coaches (FlixBus).

  • Auto-Renewal: It automatically renews on the 1st of every calendar month.
  • Cancellation Deadline: You MUST cancel your subscription by the 10th day of the current month if you do not wish to be billed for the following month (e.g., cancel by May 10th to end coverage on May 31st).

1. DB Komfort Check-in

Tired of opening your ticket when the conductor walks down the aisle?

  • How it works: Once seated on your ICE or IC train, open your reserved ticket in DB Navigator and click Komfort Check-in.
  • Benefit: Confirm your exact seat number. The conductor’s device updates automatically, letting you relax, sleep, or work without interruption!

2. Digital Seat Reservations

While local regional trains (covered by Deutschlandticket) do not offer seat reservations, long-distance ICE trains do. You can purchase a stand-alone seat reservation (~€5.20 in 2nd class) via the app without rebuying your ticket.

3. Real-Time Delay & Connection Notifications

Enable push notifications for your route in the DB Navigator app. If your connecting train is delayed, the app immediately calculates alternative regional or ICE connections for you.

Deutsche Bahn Delay Compensation (Fahrgastrechte)
