10-hour full-day tour from Reykjavik that takes you along the scenic South Coast of Iceland. You will travel in a luxury Mercedes Benz Sprinter minibus with complimentary Wi-Fi and an experienced guide. The tour covers a diverse range of natural wonders, including magnificent waterfalls, a black sand beach, and a glacier.

The tour includes five main stops, each offering a unique glimpse into Iceland’s dramatic landscape.

1. Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

  • Description: One of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls, known for a path that allows you to walk behind the cascade of water. Be prepared to get wet!
  • Details: The waterfall drops 65 meters (approximately 213 feet) and is part of the Seljalandsá River, which originates from the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. This is the same volcano that famously erupted in 2010 and disrupted European air travel.
  • Amenities: On-site restrooms, a food stall, and a gift shop are available.
  • Time Allotted: 45 minutes

2. Skógafoss Waterfall

  • Description: A stunning and powerful waterfall with a width of 25 meters (approximately 82 feet) and a drop of 60 meters (approximately 197 feet).
  • Details: A staircase leads to a viewing platform above the falls, offering breathtaking views of the south coast and the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. The area is also steeped in legend, with tales of a Viking settler who buried a treasure chest behind the falls.
  • Amenities: Restrooms are available on-site.
  • Time Allotted: 40 minutes

3. Sólheimajökull Glacier

  • Description: A “glacier tongue” that extends from the larger Mýrdalsjökull glacier. You will walk towards the glacier, through a valley it has carved out.
  • Details: The glacier is striped with layers of volcanic ash crushed between seasonal layers of ice. The landscape is a chaotic mix of rocks, gravel, and sand. The area is surrounded by multiple active volcanic stations.
  • Amenities: Restrooms are available on-site.
  • Time Allotted: 45 minutes

4. Reynisfjara Beach (Black Sand Beach)

  • Description: A natural marvel with black sand, beautiful basalt columns, and dramatic sea stacks known as Reynisdrangar.
  • Details: This is also a lunch stop for the tour. During the summer, thousands of puffins make their home in the cliffs. A crucial safety note: Reynisfjara is known for its powerful and unpredictable “sneaker waves.” You must stay a safe distance from the water at all times.
  • Amenities: Restrooms and a café/restaurant are available.
  • Time Allotted: 1 hour 15 minutes

5. Vík í Mýrdal Village

  • Description: A short photo stop at the photogenic village of Vík, Iceland’s southernmost village.
  • Details: You will stop by the town’s church, which provides the perfect backdrop for photos with the basalt stacks and the village.
  • Time Allotted: 15 minutes

Additional Information

  • Pickup: The tour offers pickup from authorized bus stops and cruise terminals in the central Reykjavik area. They cannot pick up from private apartments or Airbnbs.
  • Start Time: The tour starts at 8:00 AM.
  • Duration: The tour is approximately 10 hours.
  • Inclusions: Air-conditioned vehicle, on-board Wi-Fi, all fees and taxes, pickup and drop-off, and an English-speaking tour guide.
  • Exclusions: Lunch is not included. There will be an opportunity to purchase food at a restaurant or store during the Reynisfjara Beach stop.
  • What to Wear: The weather in Iceland can change quickly. It is highly recommended to wear waterproof clothes, including a jacket and pants, and sturdy, non-slip shoes, as the ground can be wet and slippery.
  • Group Size: The tour is a small-group experience with a maximum of 19 travelers.
  • Children: Children must be accompanied by an adult.
